The Building Bridges Coalition conducts many ongoing activities in support of our goals. The BBC’s activities include: promoting international volunteer work, connecting BBC members to strengthen our field, showing the impact of international volunteering through research and papers.

Workgroups
Corporate Engagement Working Group
To engage the corporate sector to actively involve corporations, their employees and retirees, in international voluntary service through education, information sharing and innovative cross-sector programs. The BBC Corporate Engagement Group is also known as the Brookings/POLI Corporate International Volunteering Group.
Campus Engagement Working Group
To organize representatives from institutions of higher education to collaborate and strengthen international volunteer programs. The Campus Engagement Group will develop mechanisms to share innovative programs and effective practices, foster networking among a diverse range of institutions that may not otherwise interact with each other, and provide practical resources and knowledge to strengthen the role of higher education in international volunteer programs.
Public Awareness Working Group
To promote awareness of international volunteering, the Building Bridges Coalition and its members. The Public Awareness Group is the communications hub for the coalition and is responsible for internal and external communications including marketing, outreach, branding and PR.
Technology Supporting Working Group
To enable the BBC to achieve its goals of improving quality and impacts of international volunteer programs and increasing awareness about our field through the use of technology. This group is a resource to support the BBC working groups and staff.
Effective Practices Working Group
The Effective Practices Workgroup seeks to identify, collect, and synthesize the guidelines, policies, tools, strategies, and practices of high quality international volunteer organizations around the globe. By engaging in various methods of quantitative and qualitative data collection, as well as facilitating greater networking and collaboration among peers and organizations in the field, this workgroup strives to make accessible and encourage the sharing of those organizational practices that have led to effective and meaningful international service.

Bringing the World Back Home Working Group
To promote awareness and tools to that will focus on the post-program phase of returned international volunteers. The Bringing the World Back Home Working Group will find ways to further engage alumni of volunteer programs, give them tools of action and seek to build a more engaged and active citizenry of returned international volunteers.
Special Events Working Group
The Special Events Working Group manages bi-annual in-person conferences for BBC members to facilitate networking, cross-sector communication, relationship building and information sharing.
